Local Events
[Somerville] Janet Halverson: An Introduction
September 8, 2023 through January 13, 2024, Katherine Small Gallery
Janet Halverson designed covers and jackets for books written by some of the most important authors of the twentieth century. That and the fact that those covers and jackets are highly regarded by contemporary designers of covers and jacket is, more or less, all that is known about her. This show and the forthcoming catalogue won’t provide the definitive story of her life and work. It is, alas, only an introduction.
[Boston] September U35
Thursday, September 28, 7-8:30pm, Trident Booksellers
Join Mass Poetry for another installment of our bi-monthly reading series featuring poets under 35! Featured poets: Jordan Barnes, Shari Caplan, Nathan Erwin, and Dariana Guerrero. This event is free and open to the public.
[Boston] Boston Book Festival
Saturday, October 14, 10am-6pm, Copley Square
Celebrating the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire, the Boston Book Festival presents year-round events culminating in an annual festival that promotes a culture of reading and ideas and enhances the vibrancy of our city.
[Virtual] Planning with Your Whole Self in Your Art Practice w/ John Vo
Wednesdays, November 29, December 6 & 13, 6:00 - 8:00pm, on Zoom
In this intimate, highly interactive series, artist John Vo introduces structures for achieving one’s creative goals without compromising the many additional roles and identities each artist holds. Participants will come away with the components of a personal and creative plan unique to their creative identity. Free and open to Massachusetts artists of all identities and disciplines, and centering multicultural experiences.
